Spotify's Social Media Strategies

 In today's day of technology, staying current with trends and attracting an audience requires a strong social media presence for companies. A social media marketing strategy is a blueprint for companies to incorporate social media into their business plans, increasing company awareness and expanding their target audience. 

There are many companies that have taken successfully embraced the of social media strategies and became successful within social media as a result. Spotify is one of these companies. 

Spotify, a streaming serviced used by millions, has more than double the followers of Apple and Youtube Music. To broaden their target audience, Spotify also operates multiple regional Instagram accounts for various countries. One key strategy within their social media plan involves posting frequently across their platforms, such as Twitter (X) and TikTok, sharing new music releases and highlights. This meaningful and relevant content resonates with their audience, helping build an engaging following. Spotify also collaborated with celebrities, expanding its audience and boosting their following.

Spotify's social media campaigns have also been hugely successful, creating lasting impressions and driving engagement. One of their most popular campaigns is Spotify Wrapped, an annual campaign that was launched in 2016. This campaign presents users with a personalized, shareable story that features the users top songs, artists, and genres from the year. Spotify also curates a playlist of the user's top 100 songs. This campaign grew into such a social media phenomenon that other music streaming services have launched similar campaigns. In 2021, approximately 120 million Spotify users accessed their wrapped, with 60 million of them sharing them to their social media.  

Over time, Spotify has added more features to personalize the Wrapped experience. These include a "listening personality" feature, where the user is assigned a personality type based on their listening habits and, an "audio aura", showing users their tops "moods" based on their music. This campaign will continue to attract more people in the upcoming years, as in 2021, Spotify Wrapped posts on X increased by 461% from the previous year. This contributed to a 21% increase in app downloads in the year 2020. 

Many brands use social media to their advantage, posting frequently with target-based content, using their platform to increase brand awareness, and creating innovative campaigns. Spotify's creative approach to social media had made it a model company that others look to when trying to strengthen their social media strategies
