Tweeting to Success - Companies who have used X successfully
This week in class we will be covering chapter 6, "Marketing with X. This chapter highlights multiple company success stories and recognizes how they used twitter to target their audience, expand their audience and, humanize their brand. They mention the success stories of Wendy's, Hoka's and, McDonald's.
Numerous other companies who have successfully used X to build brand awareness. JetBlue, an airline company, is one of these companies. Their core values include safety, caring, integrity, passion and, fun. These are all reflected within their content on X, keeping their content friendly and casual yet, professional. They are aware they air travel can be stressful for some fliers so, JetBlue hopes to change this narrative by keeping their tweets humorous and entertaining. They also maintain this image by responding to their followers' tweets within about ten-minutes, providing real-time customer support and helping keep customers calm, satisfied and, engaged through social listening.
JetBlue also tries to give their followers a voice by asking them to share their stories and experiences with their companies. On X, they regularly use polls on their platform for their followers to vote on all things related to travel. Along with polls, they also like their content to include humorous memes, word play and, one-question quizzes to help increase engagement. Visuals are also included with most of their posts, such as with gifs, memes and, short videos. Content specific to the holidays, employee activity, specials, customer spotlights and, content that creates a sense of community also make up a large part of their content within X.
There are multiple other companies who have successfully used Twitter (X) to market their brand. Within these strategies, companies will create marketing campaigns that reach global audiences to increase their brand awareness. An example of this is Coca-Cola, when they launched the "Share a Coke" campaign where they spread the idea of sharing a bottle of coke with one's loved ones, making the bottles personalized. This hashtag, #ShareaCoke, became very popular on Twitter as when the campaign was launched in the UK, about 51% of Twitter users were mentioning Coca-Cola in their tweets in directly or indirectly. Coca-Cola later launched a digital extension of this campaign, "Tweet-a-Coke", which allows for twitter users to send friends a free coke through tweeting, in which recipients can redeem at Regal Cinema Locations.
Overall, X is a great social media platform for companies to market their brands. It helps companies respond to their followers in real time, creating a humanizing voice for their brand and making customer service as a priority. It also creates an opportunity for companies to post fun and entertaining content as well as launch shareable campaigns through hashtags, helping their brand grow and reach a larger audience.
