How I Celebrate the Holiday Season: Family, Friendsgiving and Gifting

The holiday season is definitely my favorite time of the year, thanks to the cozy weather, stylish fashion and festive atmosphere. Some of my favorite traditions include spending time with family, thrifting for unique gifts and hosting my annual Friendsgiving with hometown friends.

Every thanksgiving, my sisters and I help my mom prepare dishes while my dad gets the house ready for guests. The thanksgiving parade is always playing in the background. This year, the house will be even more chaotic as two toddlers will be running around and a baby will be passed from person to person. we are going to have two toddlers running around the house and one baby being passed from person to person. My house is always hectic around the holidays, that's what four siblings gets you. My favorite dishes that I help prepare are deviled eggs, stuffing and mashed potatoes.

This time of years is also perfect for thrifting, which I love. I enjoy finding charming glassware, mugs and trinkets to give as gifts. My thrift club is hosting a white elephant gift exchange where everyone will bring a thrifted present, so I need to search for the perfect secondhand gift. I also love finding secondhand sweaters, coats, blazers, boots and purses to gear up for the colder weather.

One of my most cherished traditions is the annual Thanksgiving gathering with my hometown friends. We meet at one of our houses, each bringing a dish. The spread usually includes a charcuterie board, a festive kale salad, mashed potatoes, homemade bread, turkey and green bean casserole. We always play card games and catch up on life.

Overall, the holiday season is my favorite time of year. I love preparing for Thanksgiving with family, decorating for Christmas and thoughtfully shopping for gifts that my friends and family will love.

  1. It sounds like you are going to have so much fun over break! I also am going to have a Friendsgiving when I go home. And thrifting is such a great idea, I didn't even think about doing that when I go home but I will definitely be adding it to my list now. It will be great to find some cool gifts, clothes and trinkets. Have so much fun with your family!
